Description

Most news stories lose their readers after the first few lines. This course teaches you to write the kind that people read to the end: clear, accurate, fair and easy to follow.

You will learn how journalists find the news in a story, write strong headlines and opening paragraphs, use the inverted pyramid, quote sources correctly, check facts and edit your own copy. You will also learn how to write for the web and social media, where readers decide in seconds whether to keep reading.

The course combines online lessons with hands-on writing workshops where your instructor gives you feedback on your work. No previous writing experience is needed. When you complete it, you receive a certificate from Pahana Media.

Location and dates of the in-person sessions are shared with enrolled students by email before each session.

Who this course is for

  • Beginners who want to become journalists
  • Journalism and media students
  • PR and communication staff who write press releases
  • Bloggers and content writers
