Terms and conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply when you use NewsNow Academy at academy.newsnow.lk (the "Academy"). The Academy is operated by Pahana Media (Pvt) Ltd, business registration number PV 00223035, 15, 22 Chandra Wettasingha Rd, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte 11222, Sri Lanka ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or buying anything on the Academy, you agree to these Terms. Please also read our Refund Policy and Privacy Policy, which form part of these Terms.

1. Who can use the Academy

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
  • You must give accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secret. Tell us immediately at academy@newsnow.lk if you think someone else has used it.

2. What you buy

  • Courses and learning paths. When you buy one, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to watch and use it for your own learning.
  • Access period. Unless a product page says otherwise, you have access for as long as the Academy offers that course. If we ever need to withdraw a course, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email where possible, so you can finish it or download any materials it includes.
  • No refunds. All sales are final, as explained in our Refund Policy.
  • Digital materials. You can use presets, templates, LUTs, 3D assets and similar files in your own personal and commercial projects. You may not resell, share, sublicense or redistribute the files themselves, alone or in a pack, unless the product page says otherwise.
  • Certificates. A NewsNow Academy certificate confirms that you completed a course on the Academy. It is not an academic qualification or a professional accreditation.

3. What you must not do

You must not:

  • share your account or login with anyone else;
  • download, record, copy, re-upload or distribute course videos or materials, except where we offer a download button;
  • use the Academy for anything unlawful, or to harass other learners or instructors;
  • try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to the Academy or its systems.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

4. Prices and payment

  • Prices are set in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). For your convenience, they may be shown in your local currency (USD, EUR, GBP or AUD) based on your location.
  • You pay the amount and currency shown at checkout. Your bank may charge its own conversion or foreign transaction fees.
  • Payments are processed by PayHere. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • We may change prices at any time. A change does not affect an order you have already paid for.
  • If a price is clearly wrong because of an error, we may cancel the order before you get access and return your payment in full.

5. Instructors and content

  • Courses are created by NewsNow Academy and by independent instructors. Instructors are responsible for the accuracy of their own content.
  • Course content is for educational purposes. It is not legal, financial or other professional advice.
  • We try to keep content accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee any particular result, such as getting a job or growing an audience.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Academy belongs to us, to our instructors, or to their licensors. This includes videos, text, graphics, the NewsNow Academy name and logo, and the software. Apart from the licence in Section 2, buying a product does not give you ownership of any content.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the Academy running at all times. However, it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We are not liable for temporary interruptions.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • the Academy is provided "as is";
  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data;
  • our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the product the claim relates to.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will also email registered users. The new Terms apply to purchases made after the change.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka, have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not remove any rights you have under the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
